Pictotext — Image Text Extractor

Summary

Pictotext does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on external servers. All OCR processing happens locally inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing you capture or extract ever leaves your device.

Data we do not collect

• Images, screenshots, or screen recordings
• Extracted text
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Personal identifiable information of any kind
• Browsing history or page content

No account or sign-in is required to use Pictotext.

Local storage only

The following data is stored locally in your browser using the Chrome storage API and never leaves your device:

• Your extension settings (OCR language, confidence threshold, theme)
• A history of your last 20 text extractions (text and confidence scores only)

You can clear this data at any time from the extension's Storage settings panel, or by uninstalling the extension.

Third-party services

Pictotext uses no third-party services, APIs, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The extension makes no outbound network requests except to fetch image files from URLs you explicitly provide.

Remote code

Pictotext does not load or execute any remote code. All scripts, including the Tesseract.js OCR engine and WASM binary, are bundled inside the extension package.
